ONE BELT ONE ROAD (OBOR) MODERN SILK ROAD

The OBOR aim to connect China with rest of the world through a network of roads, railways, energy and gas pipelines. The initiative will directly affect 4.4 billion peoples with collective GDP of $30 trillion once completed and it will connect over 60 countries and among 16 are from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Turkey lies in the OBOR's middle corridor, which is considered the fastest route for the transfer of Chinese goods to Europe. Once the route of the Modern Silk Road’s corridor is fully operational, the duration of shipment time between China and Turkey will be shortened from 30 days to 10 days. Goods delivered in a two-months time frame via sea from Beijing will arrive in Istanbul in only two weeks. A 3,000-kilometer (1,864-mile) reduction will be achieved at the highway, as well.
