In Turkey, Urban Transformation has entered to a new phase after the approval of Act. 6306 "Transformation of Zones Under Disaster Risk” on 2 July 2012. By approving this law, Turkish government decided to strengthen and renovate the buildings (around 7 million) that has the risk of collapsing during natural disasters.

SAMPAS considers this new regulation as Turkey’s most important social project and an opportunity to tackle urban sprawl. In order to do so, SAMPAS introduced the “Smart Urban Transformation” concept to build “Smart, Well-Planned and Sustainable” cities.
