THE RAILWAY NETWORK EXPANSION PROJECT

The Grand Istanbul Tunnel Project will be a connector between Asia and Europe which is 110 metres below the sea level and it will have 3 storeys. It will allow both cars and metro to pass through and it will reduce the traffic jam in Istanbul. The length of the line is 31 kilometers; however 6.5 kilometers of it will be contructed under the sea as a three storey tunnel. The Grand İstanbul Tunnel will be the third tunnel to be constructed under the sea between asian and european parts of İstanbul, the others are Eurasia Tunnel and Marmaray.
